Functional Methods
A foundational osteopathic system for structured assessment and treatment to improve clinical precision and whole-body outcomes.
Pelvis
- The concept of Lemniscate, and how it relates to normal mechanics and treatment principles
- A detailed look at all five portions of both the long arm and short arm of sacro-ilial and ilio-sacral joint, and how to hydrate these · Intra-osseous restrictions via embryologic, traumatic and stress lines of force
- Hip joint health and ligament/capsule hydration
- Why treatment of the pelvic floor is crucial to normal walking mechanics and cranio-sacral breathing
- The coccyx’s relation to head and neck problems, and why your “tail” should wag when you walk!
While Ron focuses on a deeper understanding of the details of anatomy, and how principles of treatment can be used across the whole body, you will learn techniques that go along with all of these concepts. As you practice the techniques in your office, you will come to understand the principles at a deeper level, and will begin to understand the osteopathic paradigm of assessment and treatment of a human being.
Visceral Work
A clinical approach to internal organ mobility and its relationship to musculoskeletal and systemic dysfunction.
Diaphragms, Ribs and Embryonic Midline
- The concept of Lemniscate, and how it relates to soft tissue structures of the ribcage and diaphragms in the walking cycle
- How the respiratory diaphragm impacts global normal mechanics, and treatment of health through pressure regulation in the body on the macro and micro levels
- The spirals of walking and how they relate to the diaphragms of the body
- Embryonic midline development
- Relationship of spinal curvatures to gravity
- How/why treating the pelvic floor is crucial to integrate its motion with the diaphragm on the gross and subtle levels.
This class is a must for anyone interested in embryology. Ron will discuss, in detail, concepts of embryonic development, and how they relate to adult health and treatment of adults. This class will help you to be more conscious of treating the entire ribcage, as well as all related structures. We will delve into treatment at the embryonic level of many of the structures discussed.
Nerves and Blood Vessels
A detailed journey into the layering & integration of the lower extremity.
Knee and Ankle
- Intra-osseous restrictions via embryologic, traumatic and stress lines of force of lower extremities
- Fibula spirals will be explored inter- and intra-osseously in dynamic energy storage and shock absorption in the walk cycle
- The concept of lemniscate in relation to walking cycle mechanics and treatment
- Lauren Berry’s concept of tissue misplacement and how it relates to Ida Rolf’s statement of, “Put it in place and call for movement”
- A detailed look at Knee/Ankle/Fibula mechanics
- Interosseous membrane details

This class is essential to the deeper understanding of the anatomy of these joints. Building both of the joints out of clay is a real eye-opener to how the mechanics of the joints relate to the entire body. This class is essential to understanding the details of both of these joints. You will become proficient at seeing and feeling the different compensation patterns in the walking cycle, and grow more adept at treating these and restoring normal biomechanics. Ron does a great job of weaving his knowledge of embryology into this class, helping students to see how different therapies overlap, and teaching students to assess and treat at the micro and macro levels.

A detailed anatomical journey into the biomechanics, anatomy and treatment of the upper extremity

Again in this class, Ron does a great job of bringing in the gold from all of the classes he has taken to help to deepen your skills. Building anatomy out of clay is a very effective way to learn the details of the anatomy, making it easier to apply the treatment principles Ron teaches to the area being treated. You will also learn how the upper extremity relates to the neck and rib cage, thereby learning how to properly integrate your work more effectively into the entire body.
